As you learn English you'll want to know how to describe different types of weather. In this English lesson I'll help you learn how to describe a snowy day in English. There are many types of weather, but we're having a snowstorm here right now, so I thought this would be a great time to help you learn how to talk about it. As you know, talking about the weather is a form of small talk in English, so you'll want to master it! There are a few words and phrases for describing a snowy day. The snow can be light, it can be moderate, or heavy like when we have a blizzard. Today the snow is moderate - not light, but not heavy, but it will probably snow a lot harder later in the afternoon. There definitely are many things getting covered in snow though! In this English lesson I'll be sure to teach words and phrases like accumulation, wind chill, blowing snow, drifting snow, and many more! I think you'll enjoy this English weather lesson about describing a snowy day! โŒ› Remember: Always watch the video three times. So, as you can see,

we're having a bit of a snowstorm today.

I should mention though, that we're not having a blizzard.

about how the snow was coming down.

and then stop for a bit, and then start again.

Snow flurries are simply when

snow comes a little harder for a little bit,

that snow is actually falling out of the sky.

It did mention a third thing as well.
ใใ‚Œใฏ3็•ช็›ฎใฎใ“ใจใซใ‚‚่จ€ๅŠใ—ใพใ—ใŸใ€‚

ใฎๆบœใพใ‚ŠใŒใ‚ใ‚‹ใจใฎใ“ใจใงใ—ใŸใ€‚ ้›ชใฎ
01:49
When we use the word accumulation

when we're talking about snow,
ใจใใซใ€Œ็ฉ้›ชใ€ใจใ„ใ†่จ€่‘‰ใ‚’ไฝฟใ†ใจใใ€

When we talk about snow coming down,

we describe it usually with three different words.

ไธ€ๅบฆใซ้™ใ‚‹้›ชใฎ้‡ใซ่จ€ๅŠใ—ใŸใ„ๅ ดๅˆ

a moderate snowfall, or a heavy snowfall.
ใพใ™ใ€‚
02:20
A light snowfall is obvious.
ๅฐ้›ชใฏๆ˜Žใ‚‰ใ‹ใงใ™ใ€‚

It's when a tiny amount of snow is falling out of the sky.
็ฉบใ‹ใ‚‰ๅฐ‘้‡ใฎ้›ชใŒ้™ใฃใฆใ„ใ‚‹ใจใใงใ™ใ€‚
02:24
Moderate would be something like this,
็ฉๅฅใฏใ“ใฎใ‚ˆใ†ใชใ‚‚ใฎใง
02:26
where you can still see my house behind me.

02:32
but it's snowing pretty good.
้›ชใฏใ‹ใชใ‚Šใ„ใ„ใงใ™ใ€‚

A heavy amount of snowfall usually occurs

Today, it's supposed to be minus four,
ไปŠๆ—ฅใ€ใใ‚Œใฏใƒžใ‚คใƒŠใ‚น4ใซใชใ‚‹ใฏใš

which is actually not too bad.

That's fairly mild in terms of temperature,
ๆฐ—ๆธฉ็š„ใซใฏใ‹ใชใ‚Š็ฉใ‚„ใ‹ใงใ™
04:17
but with the wind, it's going to feel like minus seven.

When it's really, really cold,

when it's below zero, and the wind blows,

it feels like minus seven, because of the wind.
